Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She's well-known as a public speaking. She founded Feminist Frequency which provides commentary and videos on the representation of women in pop cultural. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and award-winning feminist for over a decade. She is the creator and director of executive for Feminist Frequency which is an education, non-profit website which explores representations of women in pop media narratives. Committed to destroying the stereotypes related to women in popular culture, she has also been working on issues related the targeted harassment women and different classes of individuals on the internet. With a master's in political and social thought from York University Sarkeesian is also well-known as a sought-after presenter and has presented talks at the TEDxWomen XOXO festival as well as at The United Nations' Broadband Working Group on Gender. Interested in issues concerning gender and feminism since an early age she launched her site Feminist Frequency in 2009, while still a student at the University. As of 2009, this ambitious young lady was harassed on the internet for her website series on gender in videogames. The incident did not deter her, but instead strengthened her resolve as feminist media critic. To honor the numerous achievements she's made for feminism, she is recognized with numerous awards. Anita Sarkeesian won awards for her work as a critic of media and founded Feminist Frequency. The non-profit examines how women are depicted in popular culture of today.
